Jfry Craig’s web project Appul was featured in Persistence of Vision, which is showing as part of the Eastern Edge Video Screening Series, presented in collaboration with The Rooms Provincial Art Gallery in Newfoundland.
Curator Joel Higham describes the show:
My presentation is a very personal perspective on media arts in Alberta, and particularly Edmonton. The old saying is true: you can travel around the world to find yourself in your own backyard. And I found a peculiar community in FAVA. Looking back on this reintegration with my hometown, I draw on the works of influential FAVA members to chart a brief record of video history: how it came to be, where it is now, and some speculation about where it may go. This presentation is a comment on the characters I’ve known: their processes, their messages, and their role within the community.
